A Memory Of Jeffrey Mylett

I have recently been able to work with people who knew Jeffrey on a more personal level, and have learned very much about Jeffrey's great personality. Dave, who was Jeffrey's first cousin, was kind enough to send me this email on Jeffrey. From this email, I believe we can safely conclude that Jeffrey was energetic, loved performing, and was an amazing person overall. This message is very valuable to me, and I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Annette,

My name is Dave, and my mom and Jeff’s dad are sister and brother.  In other words, he was my first cousin.  Jeff was one year older than me and was one of a set of twins.  His sister, Jenn, was also very, very smart and talented.  In fact, his whole family had artistic and intelligence talents that were unmatched.  Some of my memories include getting together for Christmas and Easter at Grandma and Grandpa Mylett’s house in Canton, Ohio.  Jeff actually lived in North Canton.  We would go down the basement and he would orchestrate all of the kids getting together to create and eventually act out plays.  Finally, our Great Aunt would get tired of us and give us enough money to go to the movies.  Our families lived a little distance apart, so we really did not get together much more than at holidays.  I was hugely into sports and his family simply wasn’t.

As the saying goes, sometimes “the good die young.”  As I am sure you are aware, Jeff died at a very early age of aids.  His sister has also died already as well as his mom.  All are missed very strongly.  His dad, who was a successful lawyer and city solicitor of North Canton, is still alive and living in North Canton.  He must be in his eighties by now.

I can still remember seeing Jeff in the movie “Godspell”.  I was never able to get to New York to see him in the actual original play.  I have kept a copy of the music to Godspell and listen to it frequently.   I can never get enough of it.  In fact, a few weeks ago when I was at Church, my priest began humming Day by Day and it really brought back strong memories.  He was also in the movie “Brewsters Millions” which was funny.  While in New York, Jeff worked as the Doug Henning role in the play, "The Magic Show."  He learned all of the fascinating tricks, but I never got a chance to see him do any of them.

Thanks for triggering these wonderful memories of an intelligent, interesting person.  If you have any questions, contact me.  I have five brothers and sisters who have much better memories than I do.

-Dave

Thanks, Dave!!
