A Letter From Jerry

I wrote a letter to Jerry Sroka a while back, who was in the original Boston company of Godspell, as well as in the motion picture cast. Here's that lovely reply!

Dear Annette,
Thanks for your lovely letter.
You asked several months ago (I replied via e-mail) what it was like to be part of Godspell. My roommate in the Boston company of Godspell, Lloyd Bremseth, who played Judas, said to me as we walked to the Wilbur theatre in 1972, "Remember this, 'cause this isn't going to happen again," and so far, he's a sage. We're still best friends, we both live in Los Angeles, and see each other frequently.

Jeffrey was a wonderful guy. Loving, sweet, and caring. Not only did I do the film with him, but we also shot a pilot for television out here. I did a TV pilot called the Fable Company with him. It was not sold, but he was as I said, a pleasure to be around.
He was as he seems. Pure, unadulterated goodness. He was rare in a business with such egos. Definitely no ego there! It was hard to watch the film. We've lost far too many of the cast. We've lost so many wonderful friends.
I'm so glad you enjoy the film, and I'm glad you get such joy from it. I watched it about a month ago, not without tears. It was a joy. A friend's daughter is doing a production of Godspell in her school this year and I'm going in to help out.
Again, thanks for the letter.
You take good care of yourself.
Love,
Jerry
Thanks, Jerry!!
