An Intro From Your Hostess

Dear Random Visitor,

I'm so very glad that you've stumbled upon this site! Okay, so, it might have been because I gave you the link to it, but maybe you just  wanted to find a decent fan site on Jeff Mylett! But anyways, thanks for stopping by, just the same.

So, why don't I introduce myself? I'm Annette, and I totally adore oldies. No, seriously. I love them. All of them. The old actors, actresses, songs, musicals, even newer musicals, or musicals that are somewhat new, but not really. Have I confused you enough? I apologize, but I must admit, I'm one confusing person... which, anyhow, leads me to Godspell.

Well, here's how it all started. The first time I even heard of this musical was a good six months ago, during religion class.  We were studying Jesus (go figure), and had just finished watching Jesus Christ Superstar. The whole point was to find different depictions of Jesus. (...and WHOA. Godspell was different!) We weren't even supposed to watch Godspell originally, until our teacher's friend randomly brought it up. Then, my friend behind me said, "Godspell...Isn't that...that movie with the hippies in a cage?" Haha, not quite. It's actually a fenced-in junkyard...but that's besides the point...

So, my teacher acquired a copy of Godspell on DVD. We watched it... and well, it was different. Different in a very good sort of way. Unique is more like it. Godspell is like a cup of coffee. You either love it, or hate it. I myself love Godspell, but hate coffee. I guess that's fair enough.

A couple months later, I bought my very own copy of Godspell. I don't know why I chose to, but I did, and I'm very glad. (It must have been the fact that I actually had enough money with me, for once!) Upon viewing it yet again, my eyes kept wandering over to that extremely energetic guy with the raccoon tail hanging off the side of his hat. He completely stole the show!

I found out that he was none other than Jeffrey Mylett, who was actually part of the original New York cast of Godspell, as well as the motion picture cast. Sadly, I also found out that he died of AIDS twenty years ago. He seemed so incredibly talented, and probably had a lot going for him, so it was very tragic hearing of his death. What an awful loss.

However, that's about it. That was basically all I found out there on the internet on Jeff. In short, NOTHING! Which is why this site is here at this very moment--a place for people like us to remember Jeffrey Mylett and his work.

I've done a TON of research on Jeff with the help of some really great people, and hope to make this page into a decent tribute site for him. I'm very excited to get to work on this thing, and I really hope that it will be appreciated. This site is going to be under a LOT of construction, so don't worry. There's so much more to come, and I hope that you'll enjoy it very much.

My deepest thanks go out to all who have taken time out of their day to spend a bit of time at this site, and even found ways to contribute to it. I could never have put this site together without your touching memories, thoughts, and other contributions.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and please, don't hesitate to send me an email. Nothing brightens my day up more than hearing from fellow Jeffrey and Godspell fans!

Sincerely, Annette

The above introduction was written way back in April of 2006 when this site first started. The response I received once this site really started running was truly amazing, and so many Thank-you's are in order--So:

A Huge Thank-You Goes Out To…
-The people who have shared so many beautiful memories with me.
(The list would go on and on...and I would say “Thanks For the Memories,” but Bob Hope beat me to it… ah, well. How lovely it was. J)
-The people who have answered my many emails.
(Oh my gosh, if I had a dime for every email I’ve sent out…)
-The people who have contributed gorgeous art to this site.
(This person knows very well who they are! And everyone who has sent fan art, my gosh. It’s beautiful!)
-The people who have kept me well-supplied with music.
(Ah, the music. The one thing that irks me the most when it’s not working! Yet, when it’s working, it’s fantastic.)
-The people who have sent me amazing pictures.
(Now, what would a site be without pictures?)
-The people who have become Kedettes.
(YOU PEOPLE ROCK! The newsletters are a joy.)
-The people who have become such good friends with me through Godspell.
(I’m so glad to have gotten to know such a sweet bunch of people.)
-The people who are actually related to Jeffrey.
(It’s an honor. I won’t even get started, or else it would probably end up being novel-length!)
-The people who are actual Godspellers.
(What a cast of genuinely kind people. A truly amazing group!)
-And last, but not least, thank YOU for visiting this site!
(I hope you enjoy browsing!)

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS!!

Sincerely,
Annette
